Tried it out Thursday- Halloween hand sanitizer

I finally tried out my Silhouette SD. I won one back in May. I am ashamed to say I left it in the box until one day last week. I was afraid it would take a long time to set up and I thought I just didn't have the time. I also had to make room for it. I finally decided to move some things off  my desk and move my printer, so the Silhouette has a home. None of the moving or set up took as long as I thought it would.

My first official project was to make a Frankenstein hand sanitizer for my hubby for his birthday.

First let me announce that I have started a fashion/style blog, Savvy Southern Style. You can see more outfits there. I like to chatter about the details of an outfit so much that a week long review of everything in one post gets to be a bit too much. Thrifting fall trends- part three

A couple more of the fall 2011 trends I've been able to thrift:

I didn't find a vest, but I did find this leather jacket with faux fur collar at the Goodwill for $6.49!

Another cute fall trend is the bow blouse.  It's a very vintage look and something you may not like unless you work in an office. I work in an office, so I love it!

Tried it out Thursday- DIY eye makeup remover

I found this tutorial at adelynSTONE one day for DIY eye makeup remover. So I tried it out.

Here are the ingredients:

1 C water
1½ TBSP Baby Shampoo (tear free)
⅛ TSP Baby Oil (Cocunut Oil or Olive Oil)

If only it would get cool enought to wear my finds. It's been so easy to find all of the trends for $1.00- $7.00. I'll be sharing my finds in a three or more part series. Here's part one:

It's time to start thinking about fall projects ( if only the temperature would cooperate around here.) I admired all the pumpkin projects in blogland last fall. Maybe this year I will get to try some. I had the good fortune to find some craft pumpkins at a yard sale this spring ( I wouldn't pay the Michael's price last fall) so here are some ideas I have for them:

Tried it out Thursday- Button headband

A couple of weeks ago I posted some headbands I wanted to try. I tried my own version of Little Miss Momma's button headband.

Everything's coming up roses (or rosettes)

Okay, I'll admit that title is a little cheesy! Do you ever struggle with post titles? Anyway, I've been making rosettes for quite some time now, and I think rosette necklaces are the perfect accessory when you need to match or coordinate color with an outfit or add a pop of color to an outfit. A couple of weeks ago I needed something to tie an outfit together so I whipped us this necklace in about an hour.

Tried it out Thursday- Package bows

I used some handmade flowers as package bows on a wedding gift recently.

I followed THIS tutorial, but cut the center stems very short. I also used brads in the center of some so they would lay flatter.

I used the paper that stores wrap your breakables in. Not sure what to call it- it's heavier than tissue paper but still pretty soft. I had saved some from previous shopping trips.

These were quick and easy but turned out very elegant.
